IT Rapid Support for Vaughan manufacturers: the short version
IT Rapid Support is a managed IT, cybersecurity and digital forensics firm founded in 2018, headquartered at 7810 Keele Street in Concord, inside Vaughan's industrial area, with a second office in Vancouver. Manufacturers in Concord, Woodbridge, Maple and the rest of Vaughan are a short drive from our office, and plants elsewhere in the GTA are supported remotely with booked on-site visits.
We support the office network, servers, ERP infrastructure, PCs and accounts, and the network and access around production equipment, and we work with your machine and ERP vendors on their systems. Maintenance is scheduled around shifts and shutdowns. A 24/7 line at (289) 582-9930 covers incidents, and IT Rapid Support carries CA$2 million in cyber liability insurance. See also our Vaughan manufacturing IT page.
Keep the plant floor apart from the office
The office runs email, ERP and accounting. The floor runs CNC controllers, PLCs, HMIs, vision systems and the PCs that program them. When both sit on one flat network, a phishing email opened in accounting can reach a machine controller.
Separate them. Put production equipment on its own network segment, allow only the specific connections the ERP or MES actually needs, and make the firewall rules between the two explicit and reviewed. Remote access for machine vendors goes through one controlled route with multi-factor sign-in and a time limit, never a permanent remote tool on a shop-floor PC (third-party remote access).
Machines you cannot patch
Many controllers and programming PCs run an operating system the vendor will not let you update, because the machine is certified on that version. Replacing a working machine to get a supported OS is rarely realistic.
Contain them instead: isolate each one on the production segment, block internet access, remove USB storage where you can and scan anything that must be copied over, keep a known-good image of the PC, and record every unsupported system in a register with the reason and the containment in place. That register is also what an insurer or customer will ask for.
ERP uptime
When the ERP stops, shipping and production planning stop with it. The causes are usually mundane: a database service that did not restart, a full disk, a network change.
In one ERP outage we resolved, every workstation lost the database after a server's network profile changed, and service was back the same morning once that was found. Monitor the database service itself, keep change records for the server, and restore-test the ERP backup on a schedule.
Supplier security questionnaires
Automotive, food and larger industrial customers now send security questionnaires before awarding or renewing contracts, and some require recognized frameworks. Expect questions on multi-factor sign-in, endpoint protection, backups, network segmentation, vendor access and incident response.
Answer from what is deployed and keep evidence: screenshots, policies, the asset register. Our guide to answering vendor security questionnaires explains how. The Cyber Centre's baseline controls are a credible public framework to map your answers to.
Payment fraud in the supply chain
Manufacturers pay many suppliers on terms, which makes them a target for invoice fraud: a real supplier's mailbox is compromised and a "new bank details" email arrives inside a genuine thread. Confirm every payment change by phone to a number already on file, with a second approver. Our payment verification procedure is a template.
Before you talk to any provider, test your domain with our email spoofing check and work through the printable IT risk self-check.
Where to start this month
If you only do four things this month, do these, in this order. Each is cheap and each closes a gap we see often in this sector.
1.
Draw the network: which devices on the floor can reach the office, and why.
2.
List every machine PC on an unsupported operating system, with its containment.
3.
Replace permanent vendor remote tools with one controlled, logged route.
4.
Restore the ERP database to a test machine and time it.
What our Q4 2026 measurement found for manufacturers and Vaughan
In IT Rapid Support's October 31, 2026 re-scan of a fixed panel of Greater Toronto Area business domains, 25.5% of the 55 manufacturing domains enforced DMARC (p=quarantine or p=reject), unchanged since August 2026. Across the 155 Vaughan domains in the panel, which include Woodbridge, Concord and Maple, the figure was 20.0%.
Three in four manufacturers in the panel can therefore still be impersonated by email to their customers and suppliers, which is how fake purchase orders and changed-banking-details invoices get through. The panel, method and limits are published under CC BY 4.0 in the Q4 2026 GTA email security study.
Published case studies relevant to manufacturers
Two of our five published case studies come from production and distribution businesses, with client names withheld as on the published pages. At a GTA metrology and calibration company, every workstation lost its ERP database at once; we traced it to a changed server network profile blocking database connections, restored all affected workstations the same morning with no data loss, and delivered a written incident report before the morning was out.
For a pharmaceutical packaging and distribution firm, we reconstructed a mailbox compromise minute by minute from the mail system's records, then scoped centralized Microsoft Entra ID identity and Intune device management with MFA, Conditional Access and BitLocker for a 40 to 50 person workforce across four regions.
Questions manufacturers ask
IT Rapid Support (ITRS) provides managed IT and cybersecurity for manufacturers in Vaughan, Concord, Woodbridge and the wider GTA from its head office at 7810 Keele Street in Concord. It separates the plant floor from office systems, contains unpatchable machine PCs, keeps the ERP available and restore-tested, helps answer customer security questionnaires, and answers a 24/7 incident line at (289) 582-9930.
Yes. Scanner Wi-Fi, warehouse management systems, EDI links and shift-based account management are covered on our logistics and warehousing page.
We support the network, PCs, servers and access around production equipment and work with your machine vendors on the controllers themselves. We agree that boundary in writing.
It is a risk to contain, not necessarily a machine to replace. Isolate it, block internet access, control file transfers and keep an image.
Yes. Changes are scheduled around shifts and planned shutdowns.
Yes. We answer from what is actually configured and tell you plainly where the honest answer is "not yet" and what it would take to change it.
Call the 24/7 incident line at (289) 582-9930. If the floor is segmented, production often keeps running while the office is restored.
