Cybersecurity for Mississauga

Cybersecurity Services for Mississauga Businesses

Layered security for Mississauga businesses, run continuously by the same team that runs your IT: managed firewalls, endpoint detection and response on every device, multi-factor authentication, email authentication and monitoring, and backups that are restored on a schedule rather than assumed to work. Because prevention sometimes fails, the recovery path is built first.

The security layers we run for Mississauga businesses

No single product stops attacks. Layers limit the damage when one of them is beaten.

  1. Perimeter and endpoints

Managed firewalls configured and kept current rather than installed and forgotten, and endpoint detection and response on every workstation, laptop and server with a person watching the alerts.

  2. Identity and email

Multi-factor authentication enforced for every user, Microsoft 365 hardened against legacy sign-in and forwarding tricks, and SPF, DKIM and DMARC published so your domain is harder to impersonate.

  3. Backup and recovery

Local and cloud backups with integrity checks and periodic test restores, so a ransomware event has a known recovery time rather than a ransom note as the only option.

02

What does a cybersecurity company actually do for a Mississauga business?

Most of the work is unglamorous and continuous. A firewall is only as good as its last rule review and firmware update. Endpoint protection only helps if someone reads the alerts and acts on them at 11 pm. Multi-factor authentication only works if it is enforced for every account, including the shared mailbox nobody remembers and the administrator login the previous provider set up. Our security service for Mississauga businesses is the maintenance of those controls, every day, by the same team that runs the helpdesk and the monitoring, so that the answer to "is that still switched on" is always yes.

We deploy and manage firewalls from SonicWall and Fortinet, run endpoint detection and response on every device, harden Microsoft 365 tenants, publish and monitor email authentication records, and monitor backups with scheduled test restores. The firewall, segmentation and remote-access side is covered in more depth on our network security services page. Security is included in the base managed IT agreement rather than sold as an upgrade, because the controls that matter most are the ones that have to be maintained continuously to mean anything.

03

How do you protect a Mississauga business from ransomware?

In two directions at once. The first is reducing the chance it lands: email filtering and authentication so fewer malicious messages arrive and your own domain cannot be trivially spoofed, endpoint detection and response so a payload that does arrive is stopped or contained on the first machine, multi-factor authentication so a stolen password is not enough, patching so known holes are closed, and network segmentation so a compromised laptop cannot reach the server that runs the business.

The second direction is the honest one: assuming prevention will eventually fail, and making sure recovery is fast and certain. That means backups held somewhere the attacker cannot reach, with versions going back far enough to predate the infection, integrity-checked and restored on a schedule so we know the real number for how long recovery takes. A Mississauga business that knows it can be operational in a few hours can make a calm decision during an incident. A business that has never tested a restore discovers its recovery time during the worst week of its year, usually while deciding whether to pay.

If an incident has already happened, our Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace digital forensics service examines the sign-in, mailbox, audit and file-activity evidence to establish what was accessed and when.

04

Is my Microsoft 365 data backed up already?

Not in the way most Mississauga owners assume. Microsoft protects its own infrastructure; it does not keep an indefinite copy of your mail, files and Teams data on your behalf. Retention is limited, deletion eventually becomes permanent, and a ransomware strain that encrypts synced OneDrive folders will happily sync the encrypted versions to the cloud. A separate backup of the Microsoft 365 tenant, with its own retention and its own credentials, is part of our standard service. Businesses running entirely on Microsoft 365 with no separate backup are one of the most common findings when we take over an environment, and one of the most important to fix quickly.

05

Which Mississauga businesses need this most?

Any business that sells into the head offices concentrated across Mississauga will be asked about its security by its customers. Vendor security reviews, supplier onboarding forms and cyber insurance renewals all want specifics: MFA coverage, endpoint detection, patch cadence, backup testing, offboarding, incident response. A logistics or manufacturing supplier near Pearson and the Airport Corporate Centre answering those forms needs the controls to be genuinely running, not planned.

Law firms and accounting practices around Square One and along Hurontario hold privileged and financial client files and carry PIPEDA obligations, so email security, access control and defensible backup matter as much as uptime. Medical and dental clinics across Erin Mills, Cooksville and Port Credit add PHIPA to that list and hold data that is attractive to attackers and painful to lose. The established small businesses of Streetsville, Port Credit and the Dixie industrial corridor are targeted precisely because attackers assume nobody is watching, and a business email compromise that redirects one supplier payment can cost more than a year of managed security.

06

How does a security engagement start for a Mississauga business?

With a look at where you actually stand. Our IT risk self-check covers fifteen control areas on one printable page, from backups and MFA to admin accounts, patching, staff offboarding and email authentication, and ranks your gaps by how much each one is costing your score. Nothing you enter is sent to us. Our email spoofing check reads your domain's published SPF, DKIM and DMARC records and tells you whether someone can send mail that looks like it came from you. In our August 2026 study of 481 GTA business domains, only 20.6% enforced DMARC, and the earlier July 2026 pilot (118 GTA domains) found only 40% fully protected against spoofing.

From there, onboarding follows the same four stages as the rest of our managed IT: assess what you have, plan what must be fixed first, deploy the controls and take ownership of the tenant, then operate and review. Security work is sequenced so the highest-impact gaps close first, which in most Mississauga environments means multi-factor authentication, a real backup and endpoint detection within the first weeks, before anything more elaborate.

07

What does managed security cost, and is it separate from managed IT?

For most Mississauga businesses it is not separate. The security layers described here are part of the monthly managed IT fee, alongside the helpdesk, monitoring, patching, Microsoft 365 administration and backup. The fee is driven by user and device counts, servers, sites and any additional requirements such as a customer-mandated standard. We give a written figure after a short conversation about what you run. The GTA-wide managed security services page describes the service in full; the Mississauga managed IT services page shows how it sits inside the wider agreement.

Security is one layer of the service. The pages below cover the helpdesk your staff use every day, the managed IT agreement the security sits inside, and the city as a whole.

09

Mississauga cybersecurity questions

Security is included in every managed IT agreement, and that is how most Mississauga clients take it. Standalone security work, such as a firewall replacement, a Microsoft 365 hardening project or an incident investigation, is also available. Call (289) 582-9930 and describe the situation and we will tell you which fits.
